Between the design studio and the classroom, Primož Jeza has built a career that connects creative practice with education. Born in Kranj, Slovenia, in 1968, he trained as an architect before turning his attention to interiors and furniture. He now runs PRIMOZJEZASTUDIO in Ljubljana and teaches at the Faculty of Architecture and the Academy of Fine Arts and Design.
His first major project came while he was still a student: designing the interior of Orto Bar, a concert club that opened in 1993 and has remained largely unchanged ever since. For Jeza, its longevity represents something increasingly rare in design – the ability to outlast trends.
Growing up immersed in alternative music and rebellious ideas, Jeza developed a strong resistance to conformity. When he couldn’t find furniture that suited his interiors in post-socialist Slovenia, he simply started designing it himself, working with local manufacturers and engineers.
His independent approach has earned him international recognition, including the Red Dot Design Award and the Arte Laguna Prize.
Yet Jeza measures success differently. Rather than chasing awards or fashionable aesthetics, he values objects and spaces that remain meaningful over time.

“Good design is characterized by emotional resonance, functional excellence, and a deep sense of responsibility toward society and the environment.”
