ALP NUHOGLU, TÜRKİYE

Born in 1965 in Trabzon, Türkiye, Alp Nuhoglu is among the designers who helped shape the country’s contemporary furniture design scene. He studied Industrial Product Design at Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul between 1986 and 1991, but his professional journey began before graduation.

At just 23, he founded DOR, a company specializing in interior and product design. He later joined B&T Design, where he worked as a designer and design manager from 1999 to 2010, gaining valuable experience in the relationship between creativity and industrial production.

Over the years, Nuhoglu has designed furniture and accessories for brands such as B&T Design, Delta Office, and ZIVELLA, developing a distinctive approach that balances expressive forms with everyday functionality.

For him, manufacturing is not a limitation but an essential part of the creative process. Understanding materials, construction, and production techniques allows him to create objects that are both visually striking and practical.

Today, working through his own design office, Nuhoglu continues to explore the connection between furniture, architecture, and the spaces we inhabit. His work reflects a simple belief: good design brings together creative ideas, industrial knowledge, and the needs of everyday life.

Plump curves give this swivel chair a playful silhouette, with simple lines marking the meeting of seat and backrest. Upholstery can emphasise those divisions through contrasting colours or bring the whole form together in a single finish. Even the inner and outer backrest can be upholstered separately, giving the chair a different expression as it turns.
