Petar Zaharinov and Delyan Spasov are the creative force behind PRAKTRIK, a Sofia-based design studio exploring the intersection of furniture, geometry, mechanics, and playful engineering. Zaharinov, born in 1979 in Sofia, studied at a fine arts high school before pursuing architecture, while Spasov brings a complementary perspective that helped shape the studio’s distinctive approach to product design.
After several years working in architecture, Zaharinov turned to product design, where he found greater freedom to experiment with form, structure, and mechanical principles. Together with Spasov, he developed PRAKTRIK as a platform for creating furniture that combines geometric precision, functionality, and an element of discovery. Rather than always beginning with a specific problem to solve, their design process often starts with an abstract structural or mechanical idea. Through experimentation, they search for the simplest and most elegant way to transform that idea into a functional object.
For Zaharinov and Spasov, the process of assembling a piece is often just as important as the finished object itself. By inviting the user to take part in its construction, PRAKTRIK transforms furniture from a passive object into an interactive and personal experience Their work challenges conventional ideas of furniture, turning everyday objects into explorations of creativity, logic, structure, and human interaction.
The work of Praktrik is featured in Creative Balkans: Contemporary Furniture Design, a book dedicated to contemporary furniture design from the region.

“Good design surprises, challenges expectations, and offers something truly unexpected.”
